Fresh Tracks Chalet School – An Approved DofE Gold Residential Provider

At Fresh Tracks Chalet School, we’re proud to be an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. This means that both of our signature 5-day residential courses, the Chalet Hosting Course and the Off to Uni Course, fully meet the requirements for the Gold DofE Residential section.

What Is the DofE Gold Residential?

As part of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, participants must complete a 5-day, 4-night residential stay away from home, with people they haven’t met before, while taking part in a shared activity. Our courses are designed to meet these exact criteria, offering participants the chance to gain real-world skills in a fun, supportive, and professional environment.

Our DofE-Approved Courses:

Chalet Hosting Course
Based in Polzeath, Cornwall, this intensive 5-day course teaches students everything they need to know to become a successful chalet host. From cooking and cleaning to hospitality and time management, it’s ideal for those planning a ski season gap year or considering a career in hospitality.

Off to Uni Course
Perfect for students preparing for higher education, this residential focuses on essential domestic and practical skills — cooking, budgeting, laundry, basic maintenance, and more — helping students feel confident and ready to live independently.

Both courses are fully DofE Gold Residential-compliant, and students will live, work, and learn alongside peers they’ve not met before, just as required.

A DofE Residential That’s More Than a Tick-Box Exercise

At Fresh Tracks, our courses are hands-on, realistic, and delivered with warmth and energy by experienced chalet hosts and tutors. You’ll leave with new friends, new skills, and a real sense of achievement — as well as having completed an important element of your DofE Gold Award.
